Here is a great service I discovered today called TextMemos – Quoting from their site:

If you don't use Google Calendar and have their alert system on. This is a quick alternative to help you remember a meeting, apointment, When to take your pills, Or just before meeting someone that talks alot – have this service send you a text message so you can have an excuse to leave or stop talking.

Best part is that this works with most cell phone providers.
